Vitality Unlimited

Vitality Center offers a wide range of community services to Nevadans and others, including mental health services, drug test collection services, substance abuse professional evaluations, employee assistance counseling, marriage and family counseling, and detoxification/Civil Protective Custody services.

Vitality Center now provides the only comprehensive non-profit alcohol and drug services in Northern Nevada with outpatient clinics in Elko (also serving Eureka), Winnemucca, and Battle Mountain.

Vitality Center's network of satellite operations and agreements with cooperative service providers blankets the entire state. Organizations and community groups that support Vitality Center and its clients include health care providers, educational institutions, community service providers, government agencies, employment services, and others. Such relationships are further strengthened by the frequent referral of clients to Vitality Center treatment programs from several other states and almost all Nevada Division of Parole and Probation offices.

Vitality Center also established an ASAM III.5 residential treatment program (WINGS – Willing Inmates in Nevada Gaining Sobriety) for male inmates in the Warm Springs Correctional Center and Nevada Department of Corrections in Carson City, Nevada, with available inmate treatment beds from 105 to 172. This successful program was in operation from 1998 until January of 2007,

From 1999-2002, Vitality Center purchased and opened four Phoenix House transitional care homes in Sun Valley, Nevada, in Washoe County near Reno. Most residents of these homes were recently released graduates of the WINGS treatment program, although referrals were taken from other treatment programs, social service agencies, and Adult Parole and Probation.

Vitality Center also opened Footprints Counseling Services in Sun Valley in 2002, with a primary focus of meeting the continuing care needs of Phoenix House residents. It also expanded its outpatient services in Wendover to serve clients in Jackpot, Nevada. Footprints is now open in Reno, Nevada, offering adult outpatient counseling services.

The increased number of qualified applicants for open Vitality Center clinical staff positions resulted in the hiring of additional social worker/counselors to provide case management and mental health services in Elko. Nurses and a doctor contracted with Nevada Health Centers, Inc. introduced access to a statewide network of physicians and clinics that treat clients and fill prescriptions on a sliding fee scale.

Homes for Healthy Living

Vitality Unlimited’s Housing Division, Vitality Living, provides transitional housing for recovering addicts, home weatherization/rehabilitation, and single- and multi-family housing for low-income and elderly clients.

The Nevada State Housing Division, serving as the participating jurisdiction for HOME federal funds, designated Vitality Center as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) in 1996 with an endorsement to receive technical assistance services from Rural Community Assistance Corporation.

Vitality Unlimited is currently engaged on a capital project to build a new headquarters and community services facility. This new facility will allow Vitality Unlimited to consolidate Elko-based operations more efficiently and cost-effectively under one roof and increase its residential treatment capacity.

Facilities for ACTIONS – Adolescents Committed to Independence, Opportunity and a New Start were opened in Reno, NV in 2006. This residential treatment program for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 offers a safe haven where participants can recover from substance abuse and claim their future.
